The Kano State House of Assembly has approved a request from the state government to engage the services of consultants for the recovery of funds from the Excess Crude Account.
The decision followed a letter from the executive, read during plenary by the Speaker, Alhaji Jibril Isma’il Falgore.

According to the correspondence, the federal government has directed all states to mobilize experts in pursuit of their share from the excess crude funds.
After careful deliberations, the House unanimously adopted the motion and granted approval for the engagement of consultants.
In another development, the House has called on the state government to relocate the state-owned psychiatric hospital to Chiromawa village Ungogo Local Government Area.
The resolution came after adopting a motion moved member representing Ungogo Constituency, Alhaji Aminu Saadu Ungogo.
Alhaji Aminu argued that the current location of the psychiatric hospital within Waziri Gidado General Hospital creates discomfort for other patients, particularly women and children, due to the specialized nature of mental health treatment.

He explained that the facility was relocated from Dawanau following the establishment of the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital and stressed the need to reconsider its current location.
According to him, the hospital requires a dedicated and spacious environment suitable for mental health services.
“Chiromawa offers ample land and facilities that can not only accommodate a larger number of patients but also allow for future expansion,” he stated.
The lawmakers supported and adopted the motion calling on the state government to expedite the relocation of the hospital .
