The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Northwest Zone, has expressed deep shock, sorrow, and strong condemnation over the recent violent attack on Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State, which led to the abduction of 25 female students, the killing of a teacher, and the severe injury of another.
In a statement made available to Paradigm News, and jointly signed by Amb. Haruna Ibrahim Haruna, Vice President Northwest, for the National President, and Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, National President of NYCN, the council described the incident as a tragic reminder of the growing insecurity threatening education, peace, and the future of children particularly young girlsnacross Northwest Nigeria.

According to the NYCN, “An attack on a learning institution is an attack on the conscience of the nation, its development, and its hope for progress.”
As the apex body coordinating all youth organizations and uniform voluntary associations across the country, the NYCN said it “unequivocally condemns this barbaric and inhumane act” perpetrated against innocent students and dedicated teachers.

The NYCN Northwest Zone called on the Federal Government, the Kebbi State Government, and all relevant security agencies to urgently:
1. Strengthen security presence in and around schools across the Northwest, especially in high-risk communities.
2. Intensify intelligence gathering and implement proactive security measures to prevent similar attacks.
3. Ensure the immediate, safe, and unharmed rescue of the abducted students.
4. Provide comprehensive medical care, psychological support, and appropriate compensation to the affected families, including the injured and the family of the deceased teacher.

The council emphasized that security is a shared responsibility and that young people must take an active role in safeguarding their communities and protecting educational institutions.

The council expressed solidarity with the families of the abducted students, the injured teacher, the bereaved family of the slain teacher, and the entire people of Kebbi State during this difficult period.
The NYCN Northwest Zone reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with government authorities, security agencies, traditional institutions, and community leaders to ensure schools remain safe and every child can learn in a secure and peaceful environment.
