The All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted its Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the January 2027 general election, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima appointed Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively.
The party, in a statement released on Saturday, named former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, as Director-General of the campaign council, while Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, will serve as Secretary.
APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, was also appointed Vice Chairman of the council.
Senator Ajibola Bashiru, the APC National Secretary, and Hadiza Bala-Usman were named Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretary respectively.
The council’s advisory team comprises former APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande; Chief Segun Osoba; former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha; former APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were appointed Deputy Directors-General for the southern and northern parts of the country.
They will work with Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and Senator Jibril Barau in coordinating activities across the two broad geopolitical zones.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole was appointed Deputy Director-General in charge of mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff will serve as Deputy Director-General for Administration.
James Abiodun Faleke, who played a key role in the 2022/2023 presidential campaign, returns as Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.
Faleke will coordinate zonal directors, including Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East, Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.
Stella Okotete, Engineer Abdullahi Garba Ramat and Audu Maikori were appointed secretaries of the Election Planning Directorate.
The Legal Directorate will be headed by Muiz Adeyemi Banire, with Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala serving as deputies. Other members include Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi; former Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shema; Worgu Boms; and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, will serve as Coordinating Director for Media and Strategic Communication, alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.
Other members of the media directorate include Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka, who will serve as Coordinating Deputy Directors.
Abdulaziz AbdulAziz, Temitope Ajayi, Arabinrin Aderonke and Frederick Nwabufor were named Coordinating Secretaries of the Media Directorate.
Segun Dada was appointed Director of New Media, a position he held during the 2022/2023 campaign, while Solomon Arowolo was named Secretary of New Media.
The campaign council also appointed five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake. Others are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.
In a message to members of the council, President Tinubu urged them to work tirelessly to secure victory for the APC in the January 2027 elections.
He also encouraged leaders of the various directorates to engage other party members who were not included in the formal list and harness their contributions to the campaign.
The President said the administration had delivered on its campaign promises and placed Nigeria on a path of economic progress.
“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress,” Tinubu said, urging the campaign team to communicate the administration’s achievements to Nigerians and inspire confidence in its programmes.
He further charged the council to mobilise support for the APC and prevent what he described as forces seeking to take the country backwards.
