The Inter-tribe Community Support Forum (ICSF) has called for calm and urged members of the public to support ongoing investigations into the death of Miss Maimuna Sani Salisu, a student of St. Louis Secondary School, Kano.
In a statement jointly signed by the Forum’s General Secretary, Mrs. Esther Abdullahi Kingsley, and Coordinator, Nworisa Michael, the organization expressed deep sadness over the student’s death and extended condolences to her family, friends, schoolmates, and all those affected by the tragedy.
The forum described the death of a child as a painful loss that raises important questions requiring clear and honest answers.
ICSF also acknowledged the decision of the Kano State Police Command to constitute a Special Investigation Panel in collaboration with the Kano State Ministry of Justice to probe the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Forum commended the authorities for initiating the investigation and urged that the process be conducted thoroughly, transparently, and without prejudice to ensure that the truth is established and justice served.
“We commend this step and urge that the investigation be conducted thoroughly, transparently and without prejudice, so that the truth may be established and justice served in accordance with the law,” the statement said.
The organization appealed to community leaders, parents, students, and other concerned citizens to remain peaceful and allow security agencies and relevant authorities to carry out their responsibilities without interference.
It also encouraged individuals with credible information relating to the case to cooperate with investigators while cautioning against the spread of unverified information capable of generating tension, confusion, or division within the community.
As an organization committed to promoting justice, community harmony, and the protection of vulnerable persons, ICSF reiterated its belief that every child deserves safety, dignity, and protection regardless of background, ethnicity, or religious affiliation.
The Forum expressed optimism that the ongoing investigation would provide answers to the bereaved family and reassure members of the public regarding the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
It further prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased and comfort for her family during the difficult period.
