Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has been declared winner of the 2026 governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord, polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest rival, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Mr Bola Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes.
Adeleke won in 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, including Ede North, Ejigbo, Iwo, Egbedore, Boluwaduro, Ede South, Ife North, Ilesa West, Ife East, Ife Central, Oriade, Ifelodun, Orolu, Ayedaade, Ila, Odo-Otin, Ifedayo, Osogbo and Ayedire.
The APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, won in nine local government areas Irewole, Isokan, Olorunda, Atakunmosa East, Atakunmosa West, Ilesa East, Boripe, Irepodun and Obokun.
The candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr Najeem Salam, came third with 17,180 votes.
The results from all 30 local government areas had earlier been announced by the respective local government collation officers before the final declaration by the Returning Officer, Professor Joshua Ogunwole of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti.
The declaration formally concluded the collation process and confirmed Adeleke as the winner of the Osun State governorship election.
