Governors seeking re-election for a second term under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have converged on Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi State capital, for a strategic meeting ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting, hosted by Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, is taking place at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, where the governors were received on arrival.

The gathering attracted governors from across the six geopolitical zones of the country. From the North-West are governors of Kebbi, Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Sokoto and Zamfara states, while the North-Central is represented by the governors of Niger, Plateau, Benue and Kogi states.
Also in attendance are the governors of Taraba State from the North-East; Enugu and Ebonyi states from the South-East; Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Delta and Rivers states from the South-South; as well as Ondo and Ekiti states from the South-West.
The meeting is being held behind closed doors, with discussions expected to focus on governance, party affairs and preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Although about 20 governors were expected at the meeting, four were absent.
Those absent are the Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Umar Radda; Governor of Niger State, Umar Mohammed Bago; Governor of Cross River State,Bassey Edet Otu; and Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara.

The outcome of the meeting is expected to be communicated after the conclusion of the closed-door session.
