Earlier, while speaking on behalf of the delegation, Ambassador Zainab Suleiman Umar, the North-West Coordinator of the Movement, passionately appealed to the Commissioner to lend his voice and influence in support of the group’s advocacy.

She explained that the “Reserved Seat for Women” Movement comprises women from various civil society organizations who are united in their mission to enhance women’s political participation through the reservation of seats for women in both the State and National Assemblies, as well as other leadership positions.

She emphasized the importance of structural reforms to ensure that women are not just participants but are well-represented at all levels of governance, adding that their visit to the Ministry was part of a wider campaign to rally key stakeholders and decision-makers behind the movement’s goals.

Ambassador Zainab, who led the team, was accompanied by other key coordinators, including Hajiya Alsha Haruna Kabuga (Kano Coordinator), Hajiya Aisha Iliyasu Surko (Jigawa Coordinator), Honourable Shafaatu Salihu Labbo (Zamfara Coordinator), and representatives from Kaduna State.

The visit concluded with a renewed sense of partnership and shared commitment to advancing the role of women in politics and leadership across Kano State and beyond.
