    C19RM Meets Kano TB Head to Deepen Grassroots Health

    Members of the COVID-19 Response Mechanism (C19RM) Kano State Advocacy Team (SAT) paid a visit to the newly appointed Program Manager of the State Tuberculosis, Leprosy and Buruli Ulcer Control Program NTBLCP Dr. Sulaiman Musa Kofa, at the Ministry of Health.

    The delegation included Abdulhakim Daiyab (C19RM State Program Officer), Dr. Nura Haladu (ACOMIN State Chair), Alhaji Sunusi Hashim (TB-NETWORK State Chair), and Hajiya Raliya Musa (representative of the NEPHWAN Chair).

    During the visit, the team welcomed Dr. Kofa into his new role and expressed optimism for a successful tenure.

    They provided updates on the implementation of the C19RM program in the state, particularly its coverage areas and the facilities engaged.

    The SAT members emphasized the impact of Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) in strengthening the health system through grassroots engagement.

    They shared insights from their interactions with LGA Tuberculosis and Leprosy Supervisors in the five implementing LGAs, and discussed how unresolved issues are escalated to the state level for prompt action.

    C19RM Meets Kano TB Head to Deepen Grassroots Health

    Key concerns raised included the need for adequate TB commodities such as sputum cups, drugs, and monitoring & evaluation (M&E) tools to ensure the quality and continuity of TB services.

    The team appealed for continued collaboration and support from the Ministry of Health to ensure effective TB care delivery and sustainability of the C19RM project goals.

    Responding , Dr. Kofa appreciated the visit, commended the role of the CBOs, and assured the team of his commitment to strengthening TB service delivery and supporting the C19RM program in the state.

    The visit ended with mutual pledges of open communication and active engagement between the Program Manager’s office and the advocacy team.

    Paradigm News reports that,coordinated by ACOMIN, the C19RM grant cycle GC7 is implemented across five LGAs in Kano which includes Dala, Nasarawa,Gwale and Fagge.
