    AGILE: Kano to Build 130 New Schools to Boost Girls’ Education

    The Kano State Government says it will construct 130 new schools in rural areas to improve girls’ education under the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) program.

    The state commissioner for education, Dr.Ali Haruna Makoda stated this during an advocacy visit to the emir of Karaye.

    The AGILE program, supported by the World Bank, aims to enhance secondary education opportunities for adolescent girls aged 10-20.

    According to him, the schools will be built in hard-to-reach communities where girls had to walk long distances to access education.

    Dr. Makoda noted that, under Kano AGILE ten schools, including the Special Education School Tudun Maliki, were upgraded to provide better facilities and conducive learning atmosphere.

    AGILE Project Empowers 74,452 Girls in Kano State

    He hinted that ,Over 18,000 girls across 100 schools benefited from digital literacy training, equipped with computers, solar panels, and other remote learning tools.

    The commissioner described the traditional institution as partners in progress and appealed for Karaye Emirate councils support to achieve the desired objectives.

    “Your highness we are here to seek for blessings and cooperation as we cannot achieve success without collaborating with our royal fathers “

    AGILE’s CCT: A Game-Changer for Girls’ Education in Bebeji

    In his remarks, the Emir of Karaye, Alhaji Muhammad Maharazu, described girls education as the backbone of meaningful societal development.

    He pledged that, Karaye Emirate will support the initiative through sensitization and enlightenment to address misconceptions surrounding the AGILE program.

    The emir urged relevant stakeholders to contribute their quota by ensuring enrollment, retention and completion of girls education for the development of the state and Nigeria in general.

    “Traditional Institutions have a vital role to play in educational development as such initiatives like AGILE will always be given the required support “

    The commissioner was accompanied by the permanent secretary, acting AGILE state coordinator,directors and other management staff under the Kano of education.

    The AGILE program operates in seven states, including Kano, and aligns with efforts to promote girls’ education and empowerment.
