    Commissioner Urges Education Secretaries To Work Hard

    Kano State Commissioner of Education, Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa, has charged Local Education Secretaries to be dedicated and disciplined while carrying out their duties.

    The Commissioner made this charge while addressing new Education Secretaries from the 44 local government areas during a meeting.

    Earlier, 44 people were screened and confirmed for appointment as local government secretaries.

    Doguwa emphasized the crucial role Education Secretaries play in restructuring the state’s basic education, reminding them that their appointments were based on certain criteria.

    “Am urging you to work hard and bring new changes that complement the present administration’s efforts in reshaping primary and post-primary education”

    He stressed that, Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has shown keen interest in education, introducing programs aimed at strengthening basic and post-basic education systems.

    “The state government also completed arrangements to implement new education programs worth 10 billion Naira, including soft loans to 1,000 teachers, distribution of school uniforms, computers, and books”

    The commissioner explained that, the ministry is also proposing a monitoring exercise for Education Secretaries, providing local education authorities with logistics for prompt school monitoring.

    Doguwa urged the Secretaries to post staff based on merit, regardless of position.

    The Executive Chairman Kano State Universal Basic Education Board SUBEB Malam Kabiru Yusuf stressed that the support given by the government has brought new changes to the education sector.

    He explained that the meeting which comprised the Education Secretaries and Zonal Directors from the 44 local government areas was organized to discuss issues affecting basic education in the state.

    The chairman outlined some steps taken by the Board to ensure that quality education is provided at the grass root which

    “What is now needed is for you the Education Secretaries to work with all stakeholders, come up with new programs that can enhance basic education, and thank God our able Governor is very determined In providing us with all the support we need he maintained”
