The newly appointed Commissioner of the Kano State Ministry of Education, Dr Ali Haruna Makoda, has assumed office, stressing his determination to come up with more programs aimed at fostering the state education sector.

Addressing staff, friends and other well-wishers today, Tuesday, shortly after taking over affairs of the ministry from the outgoing Commissioner, Dr Ali Haruna said considering the numerous programmes introduced in the education sector by the administration of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, there is a need to work hard as his predecessor to ensure the success of the ministry.

In a statement signed by the Director of Public Enlightenment of the Ministry Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru, the new Commissioner noted that these programmes were specifically geared towards reviving the standard of education in the state.
The Commissioner therefore assured of his commitment to continue with good programs started by his predecessor to move the Ministry forward, explaining that the two ministries (education and water) are key places where commitment and dedication to duty are needed to achieve better results.

He further praised the outgoing Commissioner Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa for his commitment in ensuring that the ministry had recorded successes.
In his remarks, the outgoing Commissioner Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for having time to serve as education commissioner for the past one and half year.
Doguwa highlighted some of the achievements recorded during his period in office which include among others; provision of high percentage in budgetary allocations nearly 30% in 2024 and 31% in 2025 to education , massive schools renovation across the 44 local government areas, construction of classrooms, fabrication of 3-seater students furniture, provision of schools uniforms and upgrade of schools feeding programme.
He thanked the staff of the ministry for their support and cooperation which according to him were the basic of all the successes recorded so far.
Speaking, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education Alhaji Bashir Baffa Muhammad prayed for Allah’s guidance for the two Commissioners in the discharge of their new assignments.
He also assured of the staff total support and cooperation to the incoming Commissioner to achieve proper implementation of government policies on education.
