Ethnic and religious intolerance have been described as the major factors responsible for Insecurity in Nigeria as a nation.

Governor Dikko Umar Radda of katsina state announced this at a second pre- convocation lecture Tittle “Insecurity and Educational Instability in Nigeria the Way Forward”, presented at the Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State.

Dikko Radda said that, Nigerian Security is attributable to a variety of reasons which needs to be address to allowed peace to prevail in the country.

He said Nigeria’s educational institutions have been negatively impacted by insecurity  due to lack of man power, low qualify of education, internal learner displacement and closure of educational institutions.

According to him, issues such as  environmental, Social, financial and psychological factors  have either direct or indirectly impacted on educational institutions have which led to out of school children in Nigeria and African countries.

Radda further explained that,  UNICEF decried over  the increasing number of out of school children in Nigeria, putting the figure at 18 .3 million which is alarming figure as it positions Nigeria as the country with the highest number of out of school children globally.

The  governor stressed that  the challenges can be overcomed through the adoption and use of early warning system which can be identified as transient or persistent hot zone as it negatively affects learning.

He therefore called on the Police, State Security Services and other relevant security agencies to be more proactive and act professionally in order to gather intelligence on school children abduction using the models of crime-soft-spot, crime-temporary–spot, and crime-chronic-spot..

The presenter also itermized some solutions to Insecurity challenges affecting some educational institutions which include sound governance, synargy between security agencies, fair distribution of nation’s resources, job creations and eradicating porverty among others.

Chairman of the Occasion, Professor, Emeritus Abubakar Sani Sambo said the paper presented at the Occasion is timely and commended the effort of the presenter as well as the management of the university.

Highlights of the event was the commissioning of college of Health Sciences, School of Humanities and and management Sciences as well as School of sciences new complex.
