The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed as false and misleading, a message circulating on social media claiming the presence of 79 terrorists in the Lugbe axis and environs of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The message, which also announced a curfew, has been described as a fabrication aimed at creating tension and panic.

In a statement, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, urged citizens to exercise caution when sharing information online and to verify the authenticity of any security-related alerts with official sources before disseminating them.
The Police Force assured the public that there are no terrorists taking refuge in the Lugbe area of the FCT, contrary to the claims made in the fake message.

The Force believes that the message was generated by a devious person or persons aiming to destabilize the existing peace in the FCT.
The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens and residents of the FCT and the entire country.
Citizens are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or through the Force’s emergency contact lines.
