Promoting sporting activities has been identified as a crucial catalyst for academic excellence in an academic environment such as HAFED Polytechnic.

The Rector Hussaini Adamu Federal Polytechnic, HAFED Kazaure, Dr. Sabo Wada Dutse made the indication during the closing ceremony of the Rector’s Cup organized by the Sports Directorate of the institute.

Dr. Sabo Wada Dutse who doubles as the special guest of honor represented by the Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. A.U. Umar, emphasized the important role of sports in boosting the morale of the students.

He stated that the institute places a high premium on sports and organizes annual events to encourage the students at the same time to prepare them during Polytechnics Sports Competition.

The provost expressed delight with turn up of the students during the week long sporting activities and assured them that the Institute would continue to prioritize Sports

He further revealed that in a near future the Institute would rehabilitate the Sports Arena to make it replicate the national outlook.

The Chief Coach Comrade John Tunde said the sports competition come at a right time and commended the Rector for his foresight on matters related to academic excellence, he also thanked the Students for their maturity during and after the competition.

The Sporting activities includes; Basketball, Football, Volleyball and Handball

In Basketball category, Gidan Gona camp defeated Main Campus with 49 points where as in the Football competition, at the final stage, The School of Science and Technology defeated the School of Engineering with 2-0

While commenting on the competition, the Head of the Mass Communication Department, Hajiya Nafisatu Abdullahi, thumb up the Institute administration for maintaining the Rector’s Cup annually, equally saluted the School of Administration and Management Studies for emerging victorious at the Basketball competition and pledged that they’d improve more during the subsequent ones to come.

The Sports Arena was full of jubilation during the trophy presentation.
