The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of 25 students of Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in the Danko district of Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists in Birnin Kebbi.

According to the statement, a group of heavily armed bandits invaded the school in the early hours of the morning, shooting sporadically before gaining access to the premises.
Police tactical units stationed in the area reportedly engaged the attackers in a gun duel, but the bandits scaled the school’s perimeter fence and abducted 25 students from their hostel.
In the course of the attack, the assailants also killed the school’s Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Makuku, while another staff member, Ali Shehu, sustained gunshot injuries to his right hand.
Following the incident, the police command said a combined team of additional tactical units, military operatives, and vigilante groups has been deployed to the area.

The teams are currently combing the bandits’ escape routes and surrounding forests in an effort to rescue the abducted students and apprehend the perpetrators.
The command assured that all available resources are being mobilized to ensure the safe return of the schoolgirls and restore security in the affected community.
