The Kano Ministerial Committee investigating alleged financial mismanagement at Kano Capital School has submitted its final report with recommendations to address issues affecting the school’s operations.

The 11-member committee, led by Permanent Secretary Hajiya Kubra Imam, was established on March 21, 2024, to investigate long-standing problems associated with financial mismanagement and staff claims.

Receiving the report, Commissioner of Education Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa commended the committee for its work and assured that the government would implement the recommendations to bring positive changes to the school.

He emphasized the administration’s commitment to restoring the quality of the state education sector, highlighting initiatives such as a massive schools enrollment program, distribution of instructional materials, and reopening of boarding schools.

According to Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru, Director of Public Enlightenment, Ministry of Education, Kano State, the committee’s mandates included analyzing teacher recruitment and salary payment procedures to identify inefficiencies, conducting a thorough audit of the school’s financial records, and maintaining open communication with relevant stakeholders to ensure a good outcome.

He stated that the committee’s findings and recommendations would be crucial in addressing the long-standing issues affecting Kano Capital School and paving the way for meaningful reforms in the education sector.

The committee’s chairman, Muhammad Idris, presented the report, stating that the committee thoroughly reviewed the school’s financial records and budgets for the past two years and attached recommendations for proper action.

He thanked the government for its support and expressed the committee’s willingness to continue contributing to education reforms in the state.
