    Kano Citizens advocates for enhanced enrollment in BHCPF

    Kano citizen groups  advocate for collaborative efforts to enhance the enrolment of vulnerable groups under the Basic Health Care Provision Fund BHCPF.

    This was part of recommendations by the citizens during an advocacy visit to the Kano state contributory health care management agency KSCHMA.

    Leader of the delegation Salisu Yusuf from Accountability mechanism in Kano state on MNCH (AMMkas) explained that the initiative aligns with citizens’ commitment to ensure equitable access to quality health care for all, especially the most vulnerable members of society, such as the poor, elderly, PWDs, pregnant women, and children.

    Salisu who doubles as secretary general Kano state civil society forum KCSF maintained that expanding enrollment in the BHCPF is crucial to the development of the state in terms of Health Equity Economic advancement and Social Stability.

    Salisu hinted that the objective of the visit is to advocate for improvement in communication and awareness around the implementation of vulnerable package and strengthening quality for healthcare services provided for the enrolled BHCPF

    He stressed that the amendment of KSCHMA law No.3 of 2016 and review of its operational guidelines to allow contribution of percentages of public employees’ salaries would go a long way in improving quality healthcare delivery.

    Salisu emphasized on the need to increase awareness campaign to improve health workers’ attitude towards enrollees in addition to mapping out service charter to achieve the desired objectives.

    Responding the executive secretary KSCHMA Dr. Rahila Mukhtar reaffirmed the state governments readiness to uplift health care services to global standard.

    She pointed out that, the Agency would organize a two day workshop with State Primary Health Care Management Board SPHCMB and WDCs for sensitization on services and referral.

    Dr Rahila stressed that the agency would write a letter to the state Accountant General to request for data on those captured on payroll but not accessing services.

    The Executive Secretary tasked Ward development committees WDCs to intensify mobilization of pregnant women and children to access health services.

    The advocacy supported by partnership to engage reform and Learn PERL witnessed large turn out of citizens groups including Kano civil society forum, Hasken Kano,WDCs,PWDs,Sickle cell among others.
