Voting has been on going in Kano state Local Governments Elections despite Police non participation in the exercise.
Police Non participation may not be unconnected to Federal High Court judgement that sacked the leadership of the Kano state Independent Electoral Commission KANSIEC and ordered the police not to participate.
Only officials of Kano State Hisbah Sharia Police, Kano Road Traffic Agency and members of the Vigilante were seen manning various polling units.
A visit by Voice of Nigeria to polling units at Mariri Primary School, Tarauni, Nassarawa, Gandun Albasa special primary school 001 to polling unit 21 and Ado Bayero square Sabon Gari East Ward shows voters were casting their votes in a peaceful manner.
Some polling units have recorded impressive turn out while others have low turn out.
Some of the Presiding officers interviewed explained that, despite the absence of the Police in the polling units, the elections was smooth and peaceful.
An election observer obituaries Nworisa Micheal expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct and the people’s turn out in some places.
