Kano Government College football team will confront it’s Enugu state counterpart in the national Under-15 soccer tournament final in Abuja.

The competition which is being organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in conjunction with Nigerian School Sports Federation (NSSF) as part of it program tagged Catch Them Young conducted in various countries.

Before reaching the final, the Kano side defeated Adamawa 5-4 in a penalty shoot out while Enugu hammering Niger state 4-0 in the semi finals.

The Pyramids boys will lock horns with it’s Enugu counterpart tomorrow Monday while Niger and Adamawa will battle for the third place match.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after the match, the director of sports in Kano state ministry of education, Malam Ibrahim Bello described the performance of his boys as wonderful.

Malam Ibrahim Bello charged the boys to redouble efforts especially in the final match so as to keep the impressive profile of Kano as far football is concerned in the country.

He reminded the boys on the significance of winning the trophy so as to reciprocate the good gesture of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the state Commissioner of education, Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa as well as over 20 million people of the state.

The Director used the opportunity to call on the people of the state to assist the team with special prayer in order to achieve their set target.

Meanwhile, the President of the Nigerian School Sports Federation (NSSF) Olabisi Joseph commended the participating states for their sportsmanship and cooperation, urging them to keep it up for interest of sports development particularly football game.

The NSSF President, Olabisi Joseph called on multiple corporate bodies and government at all level to partner with the federation towards the development of school sports in the country.

She assured that the federation has been doing its best to improve various sporting events through organizing local, state and national for the betterment of sports
