The Kano State Police Command has announced the arrest of six suspected mobile phone thieves who have been terrorizing residents in Kano Metropolis.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the suspects were arrested between January 11th and 15th, 2025, by a team of police operatives attached to the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) of the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department.

The suspects, identified as Bashir Isah, Isyaku Bala, Mudansir Ayuba, Muzambil Abdullahi, Ibrahim Mohammed, and Hassan Sagir, confessed to disguising themselves as tricycle riders and stealing passengers’ mobile phones.

Recovered Items

The police recovered two operational tricycles with registration numbers KBT-850WZ and DAL-113WZ, as well as 15 stolen mobile phones.

Police Warning

The Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo Garba, warned that the command will continue to crack down on all forms of criminality in the state, including mobile phone theft, armed robbery, and thuggery.
