The Kano State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in combating crime, with the arrest of a female-led syndicate of thieves.

The principal suspect, 19-year-old Shamsiyya Adamu, was arrested on December 21, 2024, following reports of stolen mobile phones in Unguwa Uku Quarters Kano.

The syndicate’s modus operandi involved deceiving housewives, stealing their mobile phones, and swindling money from their victims’ bank accounts. They used a tricyclist and a cyber criminal to aid in their operations.

Four other suspects were arrested in connection with the syndicate:

Idris Yusuf: A 23-year-old tricycle rider who transported the principal suspect to commit crimes.

Al’asan Dahiru: A 24-year-old suspect who disposed of stolen items for the principal suspect.

Abdulmajid Haruna: A 27-year-old suspect who bought stolen properties, with six mobile phones recovered from him.

Kano Police Command Rescues 4-Year-Old Girl from Kidnappers

Salim Auwalu: A 21-year-old suspect who swindled money from victims’ bank accounts.

The police have recovered six mobile phones so far, and efforts are ongoing to recover more stolen phones.

Thirty complainants have lodged complaints against Shamsiyya, who confessed to stealing their mobile phones on various occasions in 2024.

This achievement is part of the Kano State Police Command’s efforts to combat crime and maintain law and order in the state.
