Kano, Nigeria – The Kano State Government has announced plans to establish a committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the recent land dispute at Rimin Zakara, Ungogo Local Government Area, which resulted in the loss of three lives.

According to the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Waiya, the committee will thoroughly examine the events leading up to the dispute and the subsequent demolition operation.
The demolition operation was carried out at the request of Bayero University, which claimed that the land had been illegally occupied despite compensation paid to the occupants over 30 years ago.

While the state government maintains that its action was justified, it has acknowledged the need for a thorough investigation into the incident.

The commissioner stated that the security personnel acted in self-defense, but the committee will investigate further to determine the root cause of the dispute.
