In alignment with the mandate to develop government policies and implementation strategies, the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning and Budget with support from PLANE (FCDO) organized an education 2025-2027 mid-term sector strategy workshop.
In his welcome remarks, the Kano state commissioner for education, Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa, represented by the permanent secretary , Hajiya Kubra Imam, pointed out that the objective of the workshop is to promote partnership and give directives for the education sector.
She noted that the Kano state government will not relent in its efforts to provide good and qualitative education according to global standards.
Hajiya Kubra described mid-term sector strategy MTSS as a key component of the Kano State Ministry of Education, urging participants to make judicious use of the knowledge gained.
The chairman of the sector Planning Team, who doubles as director of planning research and statistics, Kano State Ministry of Education and co-chair government K-SAFE Malam Munzali Mustapha, highlighted the relevance of the Mid-Term Sector Strategy for the development of the education sector in Kano state.
He stressed that scrutinizing and bringing qualitative content of the Mid-Term Sector Strategy(MTSS) for 2025-2027 will guide the next and subsequent education budget.
The Principal planning officer of the Kano Ministry for Planning and Budget Abdurrahman Aliyu emphasized the importance of the Mid-Term Sector Strategy to the achievements of the education mandate
“Am calling on all participants to be committed as what comes out of the MTSS is the foundation for the budget ahead”
The Co-Chair K-SAFE (CSOs) Dr. Auwalu Halilu commended the Ministry of Education and other stakeholders especially PLANE for supporting the process of developing content of the MTSS to make it a reality.
“Am urging all relevant stakeholders present to give full support and commitment as the MTSS will be the reality of education performance if well prepared and done”
Kano state PLANE team lead Malam Umar Lawan welcomed participants and urged them to be punctual.
He maintained that, PLANE partners with the Government of Nigeria to foster a more inclusive and effective education system funded by the FCDO.
The event tagged development of Kano state education sector 2025-2027 midterm strategy workshop witnessed large turn out of participants from MoE, MoPB, SUBEB, KSSMB, SAME, Ministry for higher education and all relevant stakeholders in the education sector.
