The Kano State House of Assembly KNHA has passed a bill to establish the Kano State Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Development Agency.
This move aims to boost entrepreneurship, create jobs, and reduce unemployment among youths in the state.
This was sequel to deliberations on the floor of the house during plenary presided over by the speaker Alhaji Jibril Isma’il Falgore.

According to the Majority Leader of the House, Lawan Hussaini Dala, the agency will provide necessary support and resources to entrepreneurs, including access to funding and equipment.
The state government will also provide the necessary framework to ensure the agency’s success.
In addition to establishing the SME agency, the House is set to review the law governing the issuance of certificates of occupancy in the state.

The review aims to simplify the process, reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks, and make it easier for landowners to renew their documents.
The law, which provides for the allocation and use of land, as well as the granting of titles to landowners, will be updated to reflect the improvements made by the government in the sector.
