The Kano State Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has announced plans to introduce a proactive disclosure template for all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

The Commissioner stated that the initiative aims to ensure the transparent release of public information in compliance with policies such as the Freedom of Information Act, thereby fostering accountability and openness in governance.

Comrade Waiya made this statement during a maiden meeting with information officers attached to various MDAs.

He emphasized that the proactive disclosure system would eliminate unnecessary delays in sharing information with the public, reinforcing the state’s commitment to transparency and good governance.

The Commissioner also tasked the information officers with promoting the policies and programs of the state government through accurate and effective dissemination of information within their respective MDAs.

Additionally, he revealed plans to introduce a weekly reporting template to track the activities of MDAs and compile them into monthly reports.

This approach, he noted, would ensure data-driven monitoring and encourage information officers to perform their duties efficiently.

To enhance their capacity, the Commissioner pledged to organize regular training programs aimed at improving the skills and professionalism of the officers.

He also assured them of fostering a positive working relationship with their respective organizations to promote seamless collaboration.

In his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Adamu Bala Muhammad, urged the information officers to remain punctual and dedicated to their duties to ensure effective service delivery.

In his closing remarks, the Director Information, of Ministry Inuwa Idris Yakasai encouraged the Information officers to prioritize self-improvement alongside the capacity-building programs provided by the Ministry.

He emphasized that continuous learning is essential for enhancing communication and information dissemination skills.
