The Kano State Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) to enhance public awareness of its services and programmes.

The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, made this known while receiving the North-West Regional Coordinator of the NEPC, Hajiya Amina Abdulmalik, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

Comrade Waiya noted with concern that many residents of the state are unaware of the various opportunities and services offered by the Council, which has unfortunately limited their access to potential benefits.

He lamented that a significant number of those who currently benefit from NEPC’s services are non-indigenes who merely register as Kano residents to take advantage of the opportunities.

According to the Commissioner, “It is unfortunate that most people in the state are not fully aware of the services provided by the NEPC.

As a result, many do not benefit from them. The Ministry will therefore collaborate with the Council, particularly through public enlightenment initiatives, including the creation of dedicated radio programmes on local stations.

This will help ensure that the people of Kano are better informed and positioned to access these services.”

Earlier in her remarks, the NEPC North-West Regional Coordinator, Hajiya Amina Abdulmalik, explained that their visit was aimed at seeking partnership with the Ministry, particularly in public enlightenment and sensitisation efforts.

She emphasised the importance of creating awareness around NEPC activities and services, so that more citizens can tap into them, with the broader goal of contributing to economic development in the state.

Hajiya Abdulmalik added that while the Council is already conducting various sensitisation programmes and interventions, collaborating with the Ministry will help reach a wider audience.

She stressed that increased awareness will empower more Kano citizens to engage in export activities, which will, in turn, add value to their products and bring greater financial benefits to the state.
