    KNSG WHO Partners Train Healthcare Workers To Strengthen PHCs

    IMG 20240905 WA0066Frontline Primary healthcare workers have been urged to improve their clinical activities to avoid complications.

    Kano state commissioner for health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran, made the call, during a ten-day training for frontline healthcare workers in the state.

    According to him early diagnosis and treatment would go a long way in curtailing the spread of diseases leading to complications.IMG 20240905 WA0065

    He pointed out that, health workers have a vital role to play as the country is facing serious health challenges through outbreak of cholera, diphtheria, malaria among others.

    In his remarks the state coordinator national primary healthcare development agency Kano field office Dr. Kabiru Mustapha Yakasai explained that, the initiative, mandated by the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, is designed to enhance the clinical competencies of 120,000 frontline health workers nationwide.

    He maintained that, the training aims to elevate the standard of healthcare services and improve health outcomes in Kano and across Nigeria.

    “These master trainers, comprising doctors, nurses, midwives, Community Health Officers, and Community Health Extension Workers, are now set to cascade their training at the state level”

    The State Coordinator, World Health Organization (WHO)Dr. Mayana Sunusi Abubakar described the training as apt.

    He stressed that, the PHC is a cornerstone universal healthcare coverage as it is the backbone of quality healthcare delivery .

    Mayana noted that achieving universal health coverage without having well trained healthcare providers is just like something dead on arrival.

    The training program is coordinated by the World Health Organization (WHO) with the support of Global Vaccine Alliance (GAVI),UNICEF, the African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET), and SOLINA.

    The training, which is taking place in all the states of the federation, is part of the ongoing efforts to implement the Strategic Vision of the Renewed Health Sector, Vision 2023-2026IMG 20240905 WA0064

    Paradigm News reports that Over 4,538 frontline health workers from Kano State’s 44 LGAs are participating in this 10-day training, which marks a significant step towards strengthening primary healthcare delivery in the State and Nigeria at large.
