The federal government says it would restrategize to ensure that consumers of electricity are served in line with the country’s investment regulations.
The commissioner of consumer affairs Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Aisha Mahmud made the indication during a three-day customer complaint resolution meeting organized for electricity consumers in Kano, Katsina and Jigawa.
She explained that with a population of over 13 million 60% of customers are unmetered while others are made to purchase transmitters, tools and utilities without consideration for investment regulations.

“Enlighten customers about their electricity rights and resolve their complaints”

He highlighted that participants were enlightened on their rights, the duties of distribution companies and other relevant issues concerning electricity.
Abubakar emphasized the need for the public to contribute their quota by reporting unpatriotic Nigerians who vandalize transformers, meters and other electric equipment.
The managing director advised the public to report challenges to the nearest KEDCO office or unresolved issues to NERC for necessary action.
“Our esteemed customers were invited for a physical meeting in terms of rights and obligations of customers on utilities, we are ready to resolve all their complaints”
