A businessman and philanthropist in Kano state, Dr Mukhtar Gashash has lamented has accused wealthy individuals of being indifferent about the state of education sector in the state.

In a statement he shared to BizPoint on Saturday, Ambassador Gashash also lamented that many rich people in the state have abandoned the public schools they might have attended in their lifetime, leaving them in ruin without support.

According to him, it is improper to allow state government take the full responsibility of running education sector alone.

The businessman, who attended Magwan Primary School, therefore challenged his friends to go back to their respective primary or secondary schools to give support.

He also promised to renovate a class in the Magwan Primary School, calling on federal and state lawmakers to do the same.

“I have thrown challenges to about 321 of my friends to pay a friendly visit to all the primary schools they attended and cast their minds back on how they got educational foundation to become who they are today.

“The trail of what life was then and now, will make them come to the aid of such schools, and by so doing, most of the schools will enjoy renovations for better atmosphere and conducive learning environment.

“I am going to set the ball rolling by starting the philanthropic move by renovating the primary school class I attended soon. The exercise will continue as many may wish to emulate me and that could be step one in the state educational transformation drum beat.

“Furthermore the education sector lacks the support of many billionaires from kano, the effort of raising education to higher standard in kano is resting heavily on the shoulders of government which is quite wrong.

“The only way we record progress is to join hands and render the maximum support to government. The recent educational foundation inaugurated can only perform better if the leaders can come out to practically demonstrate some of the aims and objectives of foundation for others to follow.

“Lastly I plead with our Legislator’s to start this exercise by renovating their primary school class so that others will follow.

“Thanks and may GOD bless all of us Amin.
