The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered firearms along with cash totaling ₦6.9 million.
Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the arrest in a statement. He identified the suspect as Mohammed Tahir from Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Tahir was apprehended after a lone car crash at Ungwar Mayo village in Kokona Local Government Area. He reportedly attempted to escape into the forest but was intercepted by a combined team of police and military operatives.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to belonging to a seven-man kidnap gang responsible for abducting a lawyer in Nyanya, Abuja, who was later freed after ransom payment.
He further admitted that the gang was heading to Jos, Plateau State, to share the ransom money before the accident.

The Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, Shettima Jauro Mohammed, has ordered a full-scale investigation and a manhunt for two other fleeing suspects.
Meanwhile, the recovered cash and firearms have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia for further investigation.
