The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has ordered troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA to ramp up efforts toward securing the release of students abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) Maga in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
Gen. Shaibu issued the directive during an operational tour of the state, where he met frontline commanders and troops involved in the rescue mission.

Addressing the personnel, the Army Chief tasked them with conducting intelligence-driven operations and maintaining continuous pressure on the abductors.
“We must find these children. Act decisively and professionally on all intelligence. Success is not optional,” he said.
Gen. Shaibu also held a strategic engagement session with local vigilantes and hunters, describing them as critical partners in the ongoing operation.

He urged them to use their knowledge of the terrain to support troops in tracking and neutralizing criminal elements.
“Together, we will restore peace and ensure children can attend school safely,” he assured.
As part of his visit, the COAS paid a condolence visit to the Traditional Ruler of Danko, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Allaje, and met with the Principal of GGCSS Maga, Hajiya Rabi Musa Magaji.
He reiterated the military’s commitment to rescuing the abducted students unharmed and returning them to their families.
Gen. Shaibu further encouraged troops to remain resilient, disciplined, and professional as they carry out their duties. He reminded them to operate within the rules of engagement while remaining focused on restoring peace to Kebbi State and its surrounding communities.
