The Association of Adult and Non-Formal Education Centers (AANEC) has thrown its weight behind the Kano State Government’s initiative to profile and monitor Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and donor organizations operating within the state.

He explained that, this move is aimed at addressing concerns about illegal and unethical activities by some NGOs, including human trafficking, money laundering, and the establishment of illegal baby factories.
AANEC commended the state government for taking decisive action, noting that the initiative is timely and necessary to safeguard the values and culture of Kano State.

The organization emphasized that ensuring only reputable and transparent organizations operate within the state will foster an environment where civil society can thrive responsibly.
“The High-Powered Committee, led by Hon. Commissioner Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has been tasked with investigating and documenting the sources of funding, activities, and operational methods of NGOs”
AANEC expressed confidence that this initiative will result in a regulatory framework that aligns with the state’s vision and development goals.

The organization called on citizens to support and cooperate with the committee, emphasizing its commitment to opposing exploitation in all forms and upholding the cultural and religious values of Kano .
