The Challenge Initiative (TCI), a Non-Governmental Organisation, has mobilised partners in Family Planning campaign in Jigawa, to introduce a new Social Behavior and Communication Strategy to improve acceptability.

Mrs Blessing Muhammed, Programme Officer of the NGO, disclosed this at a review meeting held at the Manpower Development Institute in Dutse on Thursday.

The programme manager said that the aim was to improve the coordination of the campaign in the state.

She said: “The review meeting aims to collaborate and develop a work plan and implement the Social Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) strategy, based on the state developed plan.”

Muhammed added that the strategy would track and document the progress of the intervention through effective monitoring.

“TCI and partners will conduct SBCC capacity assessment review of the scorecard and identify areas of strengthening and scheduling regular review meetings.

“TCI remain committed to bridging the gaps in Adult Reproductive Health and Family Planning Services in Jigawa,” Muhammed said.

Presentation was made by various partners like; Jigawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, A360 Amplify and the UK-Nigeria Partnership Lafiya Programme, a partnership for healthier future.

TCI has been supporting Jigawa through four semantic areas including; Advocacy, Demand Generation, Service Delivery as well as Research, Monitoring and Evaluation.

This is to enable the government achieve a sustainable improvement in Maternal and Newborn Child Health (MNCH) outcome, sustain improved urban health systems and increase the use of modern contraceptives.
