Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has reiterated his administration’s commitment towards improving the welfare of workers.
The governor disclosed this during the May Day celebration, held at JB Yakubu Secretariat Complex, Gusau, the state capital.
According to him, the state government would actively involve workers in the governance of Zamfara while pledging to fully implement the six points of his administration’s Rescue Mission, which will form the basis of the transformation agenda.
Governor Dauda explained that he recognized workers’ vital role in delivering services and implementing government policies, as workers and government are partners in actualizing people’s dreams of development.
He stressed that his administration would continue to explore ways of improving workers’ well-being and that of their families, considering the current difficulties being faced as a result of the removal of the fuel subsidy.
The governor also highlighted some of the achievements of his administration during his first eleven months in office which include clearing the backlog of inherited salaries while ensuring the prompt payment of current salaries and extending additional welfare packages.
He hinted that the government has implemented mechanisms to ensure that only genuine workers are on the payroll and they are also in consultation with labour on salary and wage review, given the realities of living today.
Furthermore, the Zamfara State Governor pledged to digitize all government activities and reform the civil service to adopt a modern approach to conducting government business.
