The Kano State House of Assembly KNHA has passed the signage and advertising establishment Bill 2025.

The landmark bill aimed at regulating advert placement in the state,seeks to establish a centralized agency to control and monitor all forms of advertising in Kano.

The bill, which was passed after a thorough review and third reading, will establish the Kano State Signage and Advertisement Agency.

KNHA Passes Bill to Establish Small, Medium Enterprises Agency

The agency will be responsible for licensing and regulating all forms of advertising, including billboards, posters, and broadcast media.

According to the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Lawan Husseini, the agency will ensure that all adverts conform to the state’s norms and culture.

He noted that the agency will also generate revenue for the state through licensed advert placements.

To ensure compliance, the agency will have the power to remove any unlicensed billboard or advert.

4 Amendment Bills Scale 1st Reading, Several Others Adopted-KNHA

The government will also provide designated areas for poster placement upon payment, with fines to be paid by defaulters.

The agency will operate under the supervision of the Ministry of Land and Physical Planning. Once assented to by the governor, the bill will become law, marking a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to regulate advert placement and promote a cleaner and more organized environment.
