The Kano State Government KNSG has expressed its commitment to support the Better Education for Africa’s Rise (BEAR) III project, a joint initiative by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Republic of Korea.

In a statement signed by Director Public Enlightenment Ministry of Education, Kano State Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru made available to newsmen.
The project aims to enhance technical and vocational education across Africa, with a focus on strengthening technical and vocational education and training (TVET) systems.
The project will focus on the agricultural sector, with an emphasis on agro-processing and post-harvest management.

According to the State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, the BEAR III project aligns with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s agenda to promote skills acquisition programs for youth self-reliance.
He assured that Kano State Government would continue to partner with UNESCO and the Republic of Korea to enhance technical and vocational training in basic and post-basic schools across the state.
The Director Technical and Science Education Federal Ministry of Education, Dr. (Mrs) M.A Olodo, led a team to Kano State to hold a meeting with relevant stakeholders regarding the implementation of the BEAR III project.
She assured that the team would make the best use of the remaining time to achieve the project’s objectives.
The BEAR III project is built on three pillars: making the project relevant to beneficiary countries’ needs, enhancing the quality of TVET delivered, and improving its perception among young people.
The project will be implemented in four West African countries: Nigeria, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and Sierra Leone.
