Police operatives in Katsina State have successfully neutralized a notorious bandit, Audu Kushin of Tsamiyar Maigoro village, and rescued several kidnapped victims during an operation in Malumfashi Local Government Area.
This was revealed by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Katsina. According to him, the operation followed a distress call reporting an attack on Unguwar Lado and Karo villages by armed bandits. Police operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), swiftly responded and engaged the assailants in a gunfight.
During the confrontation, five kidnapped victims — Labaran Tijjani, Mai Unguwa Usman, Iliya Hamisu, Yahaya Dahiru, and Adurahaman Umar — sustained gunshot injuries. They were immediately taken to General Hospital Malumfashi for medical treatment.
Sadiq confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing bandits, emphasizing the command’s commitment to combating banditry and protecting citizens.
Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, commended the operatives and urged them to maintain their momentum. He also called on the public to continue providing timely information to aid security efforts.
Meanwhile, Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda convened an emergency security meeting to reassess strategic plans for ensuring public safety. Attendees included Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe, Chief of Staff Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, Principal Private Secretary Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji, local government chairmen, C-Watch officials, and other key stakeholders.
