The African Media Network for the Promotion of Health and Environment (REMAPSEN) and Galien Africa have signed a landmark partnership agreement aimed at enhancing health and environmental advocacy across the continent.
The signing ceremony, held in Dakar, brought together key stakeholders including representatives from Senegal’s Ministry of Health and Social Action, the Ministry of Environment and Ecological Transition, and several national and international development partners.
NGOs Partner REMAPSEN to Empower Journalists in the Fight Against NTDs
In his remarks, Mr. Bamba Youssouf, President of REMAPSEN, emphasized the significance of the partnership, describing it as “a major milestone in our shared commitment to improving health and the environment in Africa.”
He highlighted REMAPSEN’s evolution over the past five years and outlined the core objectives of the agreement:
Enhancing the capacity of African journalists and media professionals on health and environmental issues
Promoting knowledge sharing through impactful media content
Supporting collaborative research and innovation
Integrating media communication into public health and environmental strategies across all levels
Mr. Youssouf called on stakeholders to embed media communication as a vital component in the implementation of health and environmental programs.
7th Galien Africa Forum 2024 Kicks Off In Dakar Senegal
Professor Awa Marie Coll Seck, Chair of the Association Galien Africa, lauded REMAPSEN’s efforts and pledged her organization’s active support.
This includes logistical and advocacy backing for REMAPSEN’s annual media forums, project implementation, and national coordination events within Senegal.
According to the agreement, REMAPSEN will provide media coverage for the upcoming Forum Galien Africa and Prix Galien Africa, scheduled for October 28–31, 2025, in Dakar, under the theme “Health Sovereignty: An Imperative for Africa.”
The network will also publish official press releases for Galien Africa’s events and co-organize webinars focused on health and environmental issues.
The partnership agreement is effective for a renewable two-year period and is expected to catalyze collaboration across Africa’s media, health, and environmental sectors.
