He described the initiative as a timely and commendable intervention aimed at supporting underprivileged youths in accessing quality tertiary education during the 2025/2026 academic session.
“This initiative comes at the right time. It is targeted at easing the financial burden of our students, allowing them to focus on their academic pursuits and become more responsible citizens,” the Chairman stated.

Alhaji Kabir Shema further urged wealthy individuals and private organizations to emulate the foundation’s efforts in complementing government interventions in the education sector.
He noted that the gesture has received widespread praise across Dutsinma and beyond, with stakeholders describing it as a bold and transformative step that could positively impact many families.
In his welcome address, the Founder of the Foundation and Executive Director of Finance and Administration at the Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority, Malam Abubakar Ibrahim Marketer represented by the Programme Coordinator, Malam Abdulwahab Gide stated that each student would receive ₦30,000 to support their academic journey at FUDMA.
He explained that the scholarship initiative, which began five years ago with just 20 beneficiaries, has now grown to accommodate 100 students, with plans to expand even further in subsequent batches.
The initiative, he said, reflects the philanthropist’s strong commitment to youth empowerment through education as a long-term strategy for combating poverty and unemployment.
In their separate remarks, parents of some of the beneficiaries, including Malam Yusuf Ibrahim and Comrade Kabir Samaila, lauded the foundation for its impact.
They urged other well-meaning individuals to replicate such acts of kindness and called on their children to remain focused on their studies and uphold good conduct both within and outside the campus.
They also reminded the students to be worthy ambassadors of their families and institutions, avoiding any behavior that could tarnish their reputation.
