The Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHCMB), the Kano State Contributory Health Care Management Agency (KSCHMA), and members of the Kano State House of Assembly have embarked on a Joint Oversight Facilities Spot Check and Accountability Exercise.

The high-powered delegation included Prof. Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, Director-General, KSPHCMB; Dr. Rahila Muktar, Executive Secretary, KSCHMA; Hon. Zakariya Alhasan Ishaq, Member representing Kura/Garin Mallam Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Health; Hon. Hafizu Gambo, Member representing Bunkure Constituency; and Hon. Ibrahim Muhammad Malami, Member representing Rano Constituency.

The exercise was aimed at assessing facility standards, evaluating service quality, and ensuring optimal use of human and material resources.

It also sought to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and reinforce accountability mechanisms across Kano’s health sector.

“Such joint initiatives help bridge gaps, improve transparency, and ensure citizens get value for every naira invested in health care,” he said.

Dr. Rahila Muktar noted that coordinated supervision allows agencies to identify challenges firsthand and develop sustainable solutions to improve service delivery and patient satisfaction.

Prof. Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim reiterated the state government’s resolve to provide accessible, affordable, and quality primary health care in all 44 LGAs, noting that legislative oversight and agency cooperation are vital for achieving universal health coverage.

During the spot check, the team inspected infrastructure, reviewed staffing levels, verified the availability of essential drugs and equipment, and engaged directly with community members about their experiences with health services.

Findings from the exercise will inform policy reforms, guide budgetary allocations, and shape targeted interventions.

This initiative highlights the Kano State Government’s commitment to building a transparent, efficient, and people-centered health sector, ensuring equitable access to quality health care for all residents.
