Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), has commended Alhaji Abba Aliero for his selfless intervention in repairing two critical bridges – Rara Bridge and Liba Bridge – along the Sokoto–Koko–Jega federal highway.
Governor Idris made the commendation while returning to Birnin Kebbi from Zuru, where he inspected sections of collapsed roads caused by recent flooding.

He expressed appreciation for Aliero’s philanthropic effort, noting that the intervention has complemented government initiatives at a time when floods have destroyed roads, bridges, farmlands, and other infrastructure across the state.
According to the governor, the repairs have eased transportation challenges for commuters and prevented the bridges from being washed away entirely.
He added that the state government had already notified the Federal Ministry of Works about the poor condition of the route, stressing its significance as an international corridor linking Kebbi with neighboring countries.

“Government alone cannot shoulder all the needs of society. We call on well-meaning individuals to emulate this gesture and support development efforts.
I thank Alhaji Abba Aliero for deploying his personal resources and equipment to save the situation, at least temporarily,” Governor Idris said.
In his remarks, Alhaji Abba Aliero explained that his decision to undertake the repairs was motivated by a desire to prevent a total road cutoff and ease the suffering of commuters.
He noted that the route is not only vital to the state but also serves as a key link for cross-border trade.
Aliero further disclosed that he sought and received the governor’s approval before proceeding with the emergency intervention, and expressed gratitude for the support that enabled him to carry out the repairs.
The intervention highlights the growing importance of private-sector and community support in complementing government efforts to safeguard infrastructure in Kebbi State.
