The Eco Clubs Initiative is designed to instil a culture of environmental responsibility among students by engaging them in activities such as tree planting, waste management, and climate change education.

As climate change continues to pose a major challenge, the Kano State Government is taking proactive steps to ensure that young people are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to sustainable development.

The inauguration and sensitization program featured several key moments. Officials from the Kano State Ministry of Environment and Climate Change emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering climate education in schools and encouraging students to take charge of their environment.

Representatives from AGILE discussed the importance of youth-led climate action and the role of schools in creating long-term solutions for environmental challenges.

Experts in environmental science, climate advocacy, and education explored the impact of climate change, strategies for effective Eco Club management, and ways to integrate sustainability into the school curriculum.

Selected schools were officially presented with the Eco Club teaching manual, marking the launch of the initiative.

Students and teachers took a pledge to promote eco-friendly practices.

Practical sessions were held on waste segregation, composting, and tree planting, helping students gain hands-on experience in environmental conservation.
