The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has announced a major breakthrough in its sustained crackdown on crime and criminality across the state.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John (LLB, ANIPR), four suspects have been arrested, and a large cache of suspected stolen government and public property recovered following an intelligence-led operation carried out in Uyo.
The operation began at about 4:45 PM on July 15, 2025, when Aniekpeno Essien Isaac (male) was apprehended during a separate raid.

His confession led police operatives to two scrap dumps in Uyo where stolen items were allegedly being sold.
Acting on this intelligence, operatives of the Command conducted coordinated raids at approximately 9:00 PM the same day, leading to the arrest of three additional suspects:
Moses Indiana (male)
Nwokoro Onyemelum (male)
Nnabuike Okonkwo (male)
The following items were recovered during the operation and are suspected to have been stolen:
Parts of generator sets
Vandalized government aluminum electric cables
Roofing sheets
Burnt copper electric wires
A brand new set of assorted spanners
Half a bag of 5-inch nails
An empty 5KG gas cylinder
Galvanized pipes
Angel bars

The police noted that all recovered items are believed to be public infrastructure components stolen for resale as scrap.
DSP Timfon John confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and the Command remains committed to protecting lives, property, and government assets across Akwa Ibom State.
“The Command wishes to assure members of the public that it will continue to intensify efforts to rid the state of criminal elements,” the statement added.
