    Armed Forces Remembrance Day: KNSG Donates N10 Million

    Kano’ State Government under the leadership of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has donated the sum of N10 million to fallen heroes of the state.

    The governor made the donation while presiding over the Emblem Appeal Fund Launch as part of activities lined-up for the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, held at Coronation Hall, Government House Kano, on Monday.

    In a statement issued by Director Public Enlightenment, Kano Government House, Usman Gwadabe said, Governor Yusuf personally contributed N2 million to the fund, while 44 local government councils assisted the fallen heroes with N10 million.

    The governor who was represented by the Director-General, Special Services, AVM Ibrahim Umaru (rtd), appreciated the sacrifice of the fallen heroes and those who are currently engaged In Internal Security Operations particularly on-going fight against insurgency, terrorism and armed banditry in some parts of the country.

    The governor reassured people of the state government’s readiness to continue to accord priority to the security of lives and property of people of the state, and to sustain it’s status of one of the most peaceful states in the country.

    Governor Yusuf further urged all stakeholders to support and participate in the Legion’s initiatives in the areas of transportation, agriculture and housing development to improve their condition of living.

    He called on Kano people and other Nigerians to procure and wear the emblems with pride in order to identify with those who laid down their lives for the peace of our fatherland.

    Meanwhile, Director-General, Special Services,AVM Umaru (rtd) also made a personal donation of N300,000 to the fund

    He appealed to the government and well-to-do individuals to assist the veterans with empowerment schemes, rehabilitation of the State Legion’s Secretariat and other interventions that would improve their condition of living.

    In his remarks, the state Chairman of the Nigeria Legion, Army Warrant Officer (AWO) Kabiru Isyaku thanked all those who made donations and assured judicious utilisation of what was realised.

    During the Appeal, the Nigerian Army, Air Force and Navy donated N500,000 each, N250,000 from the Nigeria Police Force and Department of State Service.

    Other contribution of N100,000 were from NSCDC, Nigeria Immigration Service and Commandant of the State Taskforce on Phone Snatching and Drug Abuse, Brig. Gen. Gambo Ahmad Mai Adu’a (rtd).
