In commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child, a non-governmental organization, Unburden with FSaadina, has organized the second edition of the Strength, Awareness, Sisterhood, Aspiration (SASA) 2025 event to nurture strong girls and stronger bonds.
SASA is committed to creating safe, faith-centered spaces that foster healthy relationships and strengthen the bond between mothers and daughters.

The event, held at Meena Event Center, drew the participation of mothers and daughters from across the state.
In her welcome address, the Convener, FSaadina,Fatima Saadina Dantata explained that Unburden with FSaadina is a psychological consultancy firm dedicated to providing solutions for women and girls around the world.
According to her, the organization also offers marital and premarital counseling, support groups, and mentorship programs for teenagers, designed to provide safe platforms for shared experiences.

“About 60 teenagers from diverse backgrounds are registered for mentorship sessions annually,” she said.
“They undergo quarterly sessions where they share experiences, challenges, and aspirations. Many of them often express how they need their voices to be heard and how their families, especially mothers, do not understand them.
That’s why we decided to organize this event — to create a space for mothers and daughters to have a heart-to-heart talk.”
She noted that the initiative has already yielded positive outcomes, as many of the girls had the opportunity to express themselves freely and bond more deeply with their mothers.
Delivering the keynote address, Hajiya Bilkisu Hanga, Proprietress of Sunflower Schools, urged parents to help their children build self-esteem, confidence, and independence.
She emphasized the importance of listening and tolerance in fostering strong family bonds, adding that parents should ensure their children receive quality education while being grounded in Islamic teachings and good morals.
In her presentation titled “Say It with Love: How Mothers and Daughters Can Truly Hear Each Other,” Zenab Adam, an education consultant and founder of Pro Teach Consults, described communication as a key ingredient in strengthening the mother–daughter bond.
“Conversation, dialogue, and understanding are essential,” she said, adding that a lack of understanding between parents and children often creates emotional gaps.
“A mother needs to listen to her daughter without judgment. Emotional intelligence is very important.”
Highlights of the event included poetry performances, a “Letter to My Mother” segment, pot painting by Ruqsmee, a “Plant and Bond” session with AgriPartners International, and awards presentations, among others.
The event was organized by Unburden with FSaadina in collaboration with Kayi Bank, A Model Partners, Deena’s Consults, Hatad Group, Nibbles, Meena, and Cocotini Mocktails, among others
