The National Research Institute for Chemical Technology NARICT, has expressed readiness to collaborate with the Aliyu Abbas Sickle Cell Charitable Foundation in efforts aimed at supporting individuals living with sickle cell disorder and raising awareness about the condition across the country.
The commitment was made when a delegation from the foundation paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NARICT, Engr. Dr. Kabiru Mu’azu.

The delegation was led by the Chairman of the foundation, Malam Ridwan A. Dalhat, who said the visit was aimed at seeking strategic collaboration with the institute to advance the foundation’s humanitarian activities.

Dalhat explained that the foundation was established by Hajiya Hussaina Tajudeen Abbas, wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, in memory of her late child, Aliyu Abbas, who died from complications related to sickle cell anaemia.
According to him, the painful experience motivated her resolve to support people living with sickle cell disorder and intensify public awareness campaigns on prevention, early diagnosis and proper management of the condition.
In his remarks, the Director-General of NARICT, Engr. Dr. Kabiru Mu’azu, commended the foundation for what he described as a noble and impactful initiative targeted at improving the lives of vulnerable persons.
He also shared personal experiences relating to sickle cell disorder and stressed that the condition remains both preventable and manageable through increased awareness, proper diagnosis and access to quality healthcare.

Mu’azu assured the foundation of the institute’s support through its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, subject to available capacity and resources.
Also speaking during the meeting, the Head of Planning and Policy Analysis Department at NARICT, Mr. Hickson B. Gibbor, appreciated the delegation for the visit and encouraged the foundation to strengthen partnerships with relevant stakeholders and institutions to expand its impact.
