The Bauchi State Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim, has pledged to facilitate permanent and pensionable appointments for casual staff assisting students with special needs in schools across the state.
The Commissioner made the commitment while receiving outstanding students from the Special Education Centre (SEC), Yelwa, who paid him a courtesy visit to express appreciation for the ministry’s support following their victory at the national Girls in ICT Competition.
Speaking during the reception, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim described the students’ achievement as a remarkable milestone and a source of pride for Bauchi State. He noted that their success reflects the positive outcomes of the state government’s commitment to inclusive and quality education.
According to him, the students have demonstrated that disability is not a barrier to excellence, having competed successfully against their peers from across the country despite living with visual and hearing impairments.
“You represent the good people of Bauchi State. Despite being students with special needs, including visual and hearing impairments, you have made us proud. Your achievement has shown that our investment in education is yielding positive results,” the Commissioner stated.
He commended the students for their determination, resilience, and dedication, urging them to remain focused on their academic and personal development while striving for greater achievements in the future.
The Commissioner also acknowledged the critical role played by casual staff who provide support services to students with special needs in various schools across the state. He assured them that the ministry would explore avenues to secure permanent and pensionable appointments for them.
He explained that the contributions of the support staff have been instrumental in enhancing learning outcomes and ensuring that students with disabilities receive the assistance required to thrive academically.
Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim further expressed appreciation to Zee Tech for its support and contribution to the students’ success at the national competition, describing the partnership as a valuable investment in education and youth development.
As part of the visit, the students presented their trophies, awards, and gifts to the Commissioner as a token of appreciation for the ministry’s encouragement and support throughout their participation in the competition.
The visit highlighted Bauchi State’s commitment to promoting inclusive education and creating opportunities for students with special needs to excel in science, technology, and innovation. Stakeholders say the achievement will inspire more young people with disabilities to pursue excellence and contribute meaningfully to society.
