The United Nations Youth Association-Nigeria (UNYA-NG) says membership of the organisation offers young Nigerians opportunities for career development, diplomatic training, leadership, global networking and grassroots community engagement.
The association, which describes itself as the Nigerian chapter of the United Nations Youth Association (UNYA), said its platform provides young people with opportunities to engage with multilateral systems and contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
According to UNYA-NG, membership can serve as a platform for professional and career development, particularly for young Nigerians seeking exposure to the United Nations system and international development organisations.
The association said active members may also benefit from recommendation letters from its leadership, which could support applications for academic programmes, fellowships and career opportunities.
It added that registered members receive information on relevant projects, opportunities and activities connected to the UN system, enabling them to stay informed about programmes and openings.
UNYA-NG further stated that its members could gain exposure to diplomacy and leadership through initiatives linked to the United Nations Volunteers (UNV), as well as opportunities to participate in local, national and international events as delegates or volunteers.
For Nigerians living abroad, the association said it offers opportunities to serve as UNYA-NG Foreign Envoys, providing exposure to diplomatic engagement and international relations.
The organisation also listed practical training programmes, including the United Nations Youth Delegate Programme (UNYDP) and Model United Nations (MUN) simulations, as part of its efforts to strengthen members’ skills in public speaking, policy writing, negotiation and leadership.
It said members would also receive educational exposure to international relations, civil society engagement and the implementation of the 17 SDGs at the grassroots level.
UNYA-NG noted that its networking opportunities connect young people with professionals, leaders and other changemakers in Nigeria and abroad.
The association invited interested young Nigerians to join by submitting their curriculum vitae and statement of purpose through its official WhatsApp line, 08068938798, for consideration and approval.
UNYA-NG said the initiative is aimed at providing young Nigerians with platforms for personal development, leadership, international exposure and community impact.
