The Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (KADSUBEB) has launched a statewide enrolment campaign for the 2026/2027 academic session across the state’s 23 Local Government Areas.
The campaign is aimed at reducing the number of out-of-school children by ensuring that every school-age child is enrolled, retained and provided access to quality basic education.
Speaking at the launch, the Executive Chairman of KADSUBEB, Mubarak Mohammed, urged parents and guardians to enrol their children and wards in public schools, stressing that basic education in public schools across Kaduna State is free.
He cautioned parents against paying any fees for enrolment, while reaffirming the commitment of the state government under Governor Uba Sani to providing free, accessible, inclusive and quality basic education.
Mubarak described education as a fundamental right rather than a privilege, stressing that every child deserves the opportunity to acquire knowledge and develop his or her potential.
He also called on communities, traditional and religious leaders, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to support the campaign and ensure that no child is left out of school.
The KADSUBEB chairman further noted that denying children access to education undermines their rights and future prospects, urging parents and guardians to take advantage of the free public education programme.
The launch was attended by key stakeholders in the education sector, including the Press Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, representatives of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, government agencies and non-governmental organisations.
The statewide campaign is expected to contribute to increased school enrolment and retention while strengthening Kaduna State’s efforts to address the challenge of out-of-school children and expand access to quality basic education.
