Dr. Yusuf Bello Danbatta, the 2023 Deputy Governorship Candidate, has officially announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing extensive consultations and a desire to contribute more effectively to the development of Kano State and Nigeria.
In a statement announcing his decision, Danbatta said the move followed careful consideration and wide-ranging consultations with political leaders, associates, supporters, and other stakeholders.
He noted that the APC offers a more suitable platform through which he can advance the interests of the people and support initiatives aimed at improving governance and development.
The former deputy governorship candidate explained that his decision was largely influenced by the leadership style and developmental agenda of the Kano State Government under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
He described the Kano First Agenda as a transformative blueprint that has demonstrated a strong commitment to good governance, human capital development, infrastructure renewal, and the overall progress of the state.
Danbatta further stated that the growing spirit of inclusiveness within the APC, as well as the party’s commitment to the welfare of citizens, reinforced his confidence in the party and motivated him to become part of its political family once again.
According to him, joining the APC will provide a better opportunity to contribute meaningfully to policies and programmes aimed at fostering peace, prosperity, and sustainable development across Kano State and the country at large.
He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to public service and pledged to continue working for the unity and progress of the people, regardless of political affiliations.
The politician also expressed appreciation to members and leaders of the PDP for the relationships, support, and experiences he gained during his years in the party.
Danbatta noted that his time in the PDP had been valuable and rewarding, adding that he remains grateful to party faithful who stood by him throughout his political journey.
He, however, expressed optimism about the future and his new political direction, pledging to work closely with APC members and other well-meaning citizens in advancing the Kano First Agenda.
The former deputy governorship candidate called on his supporters and associates to join him in supporting efforts geared toward the continued growth, stability, and development of Kano State.
